Shots fired at the Mercedes-Benz factory premises in Sindelfingen triggered a large-scale operation by the police, fire brigade and rescue service on Thursday morning. One person died in the incident, a police spokeswoman confirmed. Another was seriously injured. The background is still unclear. “The perpetrator was arrested,” said the spokeswoman. The officials ruled out an amok alarm on Twitter.

“There is no longer any danger for the employees in the plant,” it said. According to the police, the crime happened around 7.45 a.m., further details are not yet known.
