As early as 2001, there was apparently a criminal complaint against the educator of a children’s village in the district of Lüneburg. But she is dropped again, only 22 years later there is a process. The charge: sexual abuse of boys in more than 100 counts.
An educator is said to have sexually abused boys in a children’s village in the Lüneburg district in Lower Saxony over a period of 20 years, some of them severely. The trial against the 63-year-old begins on June 30, said a spokeswoman for the Lüneburg district court.
According to the court, there are more than 100 cases of abuse. Six boys between the ages of 7 and 13 are believed to be affected. According to research by the NDR investigative team in Lower Saxony, the man was investigated in the same facility in 2001 on suspicion of sexual abuse of a child. The NDR therefore has parts of the criminal complaint at the time. According to the stepmother of the child concerned and the management of the children’s village, the investigations were stopped at the time, as reported by NDR.
According to the broadcaster, the new investigations started because a boy had confided in an employee of the children’s village last year. The accused educator was confronted by the management of the home and reported himself. The Lüneburg Regional Court confirmed the voluntary disclosure.
The defender of the 63-year-old did not want to comment on the case to the NDR. He referred to the ongoing process.
