If the new iPhones aren’t really your jam and you want a phone that isn’t as expensive, then the iPhone SE might be a good alternative. However, if you were hoping for slightly better specs, it makes sense to wait for the next-generation model, but unfortunately, those hoping for a new iPhone SE might have to wait a bit.

This is according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who claims that Apple will not launch a new iPhone SE until the second-half of 2021, if it even arrives in 2021 to begin with. Apple launched the iPhone SE in the early part of 2020, so it makes sense that people would expect a new model in the early part of 2021, but Kuo believes that will not be the case.

In fact, Kuo’s investor note seems more optimistic than a previous report. Back in October, another analyst had predicted that a new iPhone SE would most likely arrive in 2022, so like we said, Kuo’s report seems to be slightly more optimistic, although he does note that the second half of 2021 would be the “earliest”, meaning that it could still be possible that it might arrive in 2022.

We’re not sure what kind of hardware the next iPhone SE could be packing, but the current model uses the A13 Bionic which was used in 2019’s iPhones, so it stands to reason that the next model would most likely end up using the previous-gen chipset as well.
