RUnlike the base of his party, Obert Habeck (Greens) welcomes the idea of asylum centers at the EU’s external borders. In an interview with the news channel WELT, the Economics Minister and Vice Chancellor warns against isolation: “There is registration at the external borders and then distribution. That would be progress.” Conversely, these registration and border procedures also pose a risk “that in reality you don’t register at all, but only seal off”.
Previously, there had already been protests by the Greens against the idea of the asylum centers. Habeck himself is “curious” about the negotiations between the EU interior ministers: “Commitment to a common European policy is necessary and, conversely, commitment to humanity.” In between, the right way must now be found.
Habeck emphasized that the German position also bears the signature of Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. “These are difficult negotiations, and I am grateful to the Foreign Minister for her involvement and involvement Home Secretary Nancy Faeser aligns the government line together.” Basically, the situation is so problematic that a reorganization is urgently needed. The state of the global world is not good at the moment – hunger, drought and war are forcing people to leave their homes.
“The overall conditions are not good: people are drowning, people are living in miserable conditions at the external borders and are being held in camps,” said Habeck. In this respect, it is right to take care and fight for Europe to have a uniform system.
