Right out of the box, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is better in every aspect compared to its predecessor. It looks like Note 20 Ultra with matte colors and squared-off edges. However, the similarities end here as Fold 2 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It weighs at 282g and measures 68.0 x 159.2 x13.8~16.8mm when folded and 128.2 x 159.2 x 6.0~6.9mm when unfolded.
Talking about the mechanical improvements, it features sweeper technology, first introduced on the Galaxy Z Flip, within the gap between the body and hinge housing to repel dust and undesirable particles. Further, the Hideaway Hinge features revolutionary slim cutting technology, modified fiber composition, and adjusted fiber density with the CAM mechanism and enables free-standing capabilities.
Both the displays have now grown to 6.2-inch from 4.6-inch in front and 7.6-inch from 7.3-inch inside. The bigger QXGA+ Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED screen on the inside features a 120Hz refresh rate. Just like any other Samsung flagship devices, the display is vivid, sharp with deep blacks. Well, yes, you can still see the crease in the middle of the folding screen at certain angles. It combines Flex mode and App Continuity for expanded usability across Cover and Main Screen.
The advanced Multi-Active Window lets you control your screen layout with more ease and flexibility such as opening multiple files from the same app at the same time and view them side by side, offers an improved Multi-Window Tray, a better viewing experience of apps.
Under the hood, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ 7nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 650 GPU. It comes with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB / 512GB (UFS 3.1) storage. In our limited time usage, we didn’t experience any lag or stutter and we don’t expect any performance hiccups in the foreseeable future as well.
