Twitter Will Let You Post Two-hour Videos (but You’ll Pay For The Privilege)
Short-form blogging platform Twitter now allows users to post videos that are two hours long. Perhaps we should rephrase that — it’s the previously short-form blogging platform. Also, ‘allows’ is a strong word.
Twitter Blue, the platform’s subscription-based service, now allows users to post videos that have up to an 8GB file size. This is an expansion from the previous 2GB file size which allowed videos up to one hour long. Video quality remains capped at 1080p though.
Users can now post longer videos using the iOS app. Subscribers on Android can also upload lengthier videos that are up to 10 minutes long. Previously, subscribers could only post longer videos using web. Twitter added the ability to post longer videos last year and recently added playback speed controls for Blue subscribers.
Those who aren’t paying for Twitter Blue can continue to post videos up to 140 seconds long. They can do so via any platform.

The new changes open up a world of possibilities for content creators. Some users on Twitter are already planning to host talk shows and podcasts on the platform. We’re not so sure what this will mean for content consumers’ experience, especially those who joined Twitter for the bite-size content it once preferred.
Much has changed at Twitter since Elon Musk’s takeover. Twitter Blue and its price structure didn’t land well with most users. In fact, most users initially opted not to pay for the additional service on Twitter Blue, forfeiting blue checkmarks and a few other perks.
At this point, it seems anything is possible, as long as you’re willing to fork out anything from $8/month (or more) for expandable features. At this point, you’re likely to find anything from tweets featuring 140 characters to long-form documentaries on the platform.
