Today, at an event in Barcelona, Xiaomi unveiled its flagship 13 Series smartphones, a three products lineup with the high-end Xiaomi 13 Pro, the premium Xiaomi 13, and the mid-range Xiaomi 13 Lite. As expected, the trio of smartphones is pretty much what the various leaks described. Here are the important details you should know about. Here are the important details you should know about.
The new Xiaomi 13 models
Just like last year’s flagship phone series, there are three smartphones: the Xiaomi 13 Pro, the Xiaomi 13, and the Xiaomi 13 Lite, the successors of the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the Xiaomi 12, and the Xiaomi 12X, respectively.
Powered by Qualcomm’s flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the 12 Pro, and the 12 both feature the same 32MP selfie camera and a triple camera system on the back with a 50MP main shooter, but each with a different sensor. Both phones have an ultrawide camera and a telephoto, but with different specifications. More details in the camera paragraph.
The Xiaomi 13 Lite is equipped with the mid-range Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Soc from Qualcomm and a triple shooter on the back with a 50MP main camera with a different sensor than its siblings.
If you like compact phones, the 13 is the smallest, with an AMOLED 120Hz 6.36” FHD+ (2400×1080) display, while the 13 Lite is a 6.55″ smartphone (AMOLED, FHD+, 120Hz).
Both phones get a 5,500 mAh battery with 67W wired turbocharging, and only the Xiaomi 13 features 50W wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is in a different class and features significantly higher specs, including a large 6.73” 3200×1440 AMOLED 120Hz display, with adaptive refresh rate 1-120Hz, and a 4820 mAh battery with fast charging 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse charging.
Note that the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are rated as IP68 (waterproof) smartphones. Of course, the prices will reflect these variations.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro, the Xiaomi 13, and the Xiaomi 13 lite cameras
All phones have camera systems that feature three modules in the back and a 32MP selfie camera (each with different sensors). Xiaomi partnered with LEICA to feature Leica lenses and on the software side 2 photographic styles, Leica Authentic Look and Leica Vibrant Look, that shoots more saturated images than the Authentic mode.
Xiaomi 13 Pro: the rear camera system has a Primary (50MP with OIS, f/1.9, IMX989 1″ sensor), an Ultrawide (50MP, f2.2), and a 3.2X Telephoto module (50MP with OIS, f/2.0).
Xiaomi 13: the rear camera system has a Primary (50MP, f/1.8, IMX800 1/1.56″ sensor), an Ultrawide (12MP, f2.2), and a Telephoto module (10MP, f/2.0).
